What is PAL?
The Oklahoma City Police Athletic League (OKC PAL) is once again the beneficiary of OKC Charity Fight Night.
Who We Are – The Oklahoma City Police Athletic League (OKC PAL) is a 501(c)(3) organization that exists, in partnership with the Oklahoma City Police Department, to serve students and schools in Oklahoma City.
What We Do – We provide athletic programs, mentoring, leadership skills training, and service opportunities to the students and schools involved in our programs.
Where We Operate – Through an established partnership with the Oklahoma City Public School System (OKCPS), the majority of our programs happen at our local schools. The PAL Center is located at 3816 S. Robinson Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73109.
When We Operate – We have four full time police officers running our programs in designated OKCPS schools during school hours. In addition to that, we have afterschool mentoring and martial arts programs, as well as our elementary athletic leagues, which take place after school and on weekends during their respective seasons.
Why We Exist – The Police Athletic League came to life in New York City in 1914 with a two-fold intention: to create a safe place for kids to play and to better the relationship between police officers and youth. The OKC PAL program exists in support of that same mission. We aim to drive change by providing positive opportunities for our youth and their future. We are all about Cops Helping Kids Succeed!
OKC PAL was formed in 1991 through a resolution approved by the Oklahoma City Council. The National Association of Police Athletic/Activities Leagues, recognized as the largest juvenile crime prevention program in the nation, certified OKC PAL as a chapter member on March 11, 1991. OKC PAL is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation governed by a Board of Directors comprised of members from the community. It is staffed with full-time sworn police officers and police employees from the OCPD Police Community Relations Unit. The first OKC PAL Center, located at 3816 S. Robinson, opened in October 2009 serving the Capitol Hill community on the south side of Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma City Police Athletic League (OKC PAL) is a juvenile crime prevention program providing educational and athletic activities for all children, primarily those in high-risk neighborhoods.
OKC PAL is dedicated to reducing crime by providing safe, healthy alternatives for children from high risk neighborhoods. PAL exists with the belief children can stay away from negative lifestyle choices such as gangs and drugs when offered positive, healthy alternatives. PAL is not like any other program. It is driven by a philosophy of teamwork, fair play, courtesy and consideration for others.
